Midlands League Div 2 FinalSt Farnans reclaimed their league title with a decisive victory over their Naas rivals. The Prosperous team went ahead after 10 mins when striker, Ireno Lourenzo, unleashed a powerful drive to the bottom corner, leaving Barry Loughran little chance in the Naas goal. Left- sided midfielder, Jake Corrigan, added the second goal midway through the opening half with a terrific run and shot to the far corner, putting the Prosperous lads firmly in charge at the interval.
St. Patrick's started the second half brightly, led by their influential midfielder, Dylan Coady. However, the St. Farnan's defence was not to be breached, with Evan Dempsey putting in another eye-catching display at the heart of the defence. He was ably assisted by fellow defenders Ciaran McMahon, David Hayes and Graham O'Sullivan.
Top scorer and team captain Dylan Hannon demonstrated clinical finishing by adding two more goals. Super-sub Jamie Moore completed the scoring, crashing the ball home from close range after keeper, Loughran, parried.
This sporting game was played in a great spirit under the charge of referee, Chris O'Grady. Regional FAIS organizer and St. Patrick's Deputy Principal, Joe Carroll officiated at the medal ceremony.
Stand-out players for St. Farnan's in an excellent team performance included Dylan Hannon, Jake Corrigan and MOTM, Evan Dempsey.
Alan and Dylan Coady played well for St. Patrick's, as did Barry Gill and Lee Drewitt.
