Letter to Parents, November 30th:

30th Nov 2020

LETTER TO PARENTS.

Since March 13th, this method of communication has worked very well to keep everyone informed on developments in our school.

I am happy to report that our school community is doing very well in relation to Teaching and Learning, and abiding by the Covid 19 guidelines issued by the HSE and our Government.  Mask wearing, hand sanitizing and keeping social distancing are definitely working to keep Covid 19 at bay.

This morning, Monday 30th November, I was informed of a number of incidents that occurred on Saturday 28th November, both on school grounds and in the as yet unopened new public park in front of our school. These two incidents are a matter of great concern.

School Grounds:

I am asking Parents to remind their sons/daughters that they are not allowed on school grounds after hours or during the weekend. It is in fact trespassing and going forward will be dealt with as trespassing. It appears from video footage that I have seen, that this was an organized unauthorized assembly. There was no evidence of social distancing and definitely no mask wearing. These young people (not all from St. Farnan’s) went home and may have put other members of households at risk.

New Playground:

What a wonderful addition to the community of Prosperous and to the students of St Farnan’s that this public amenity is. I am aware that an incident occurred on Saturday afternoon also. I am aware that the Gardaí have been made aware of both incidentsand are investigating. Due to the recent Level 5 lockdown this park is not yet open to the public, but has been subject to much litter and criminal damage. Let us work together to make sure that this beautiful playground is an amenity for the young and old of our community.

Yours in Education,

Eddie Collins,

Principal.
