Principal’s Newsletter, January 22nd 2021

22nd Jan 2021

Welcome to the St. Farnan’s January Newsletter. Week 2 of On Line learning is complete. I would like to say a big well done to all our students and staff for your ongoing work and commitment to this new normal. Parents also deserve a thanks for the important part that you play in these current circumstances.

While on line learning is going very well and both teachers and students have embraced live classes to a great extent, it is important that students continue to engage in all classes that are in place for them. Our Senior Management Team , as well as our SEN Department and Care Team meet on a regular basis to discuss any concerns that arise and we do our best to resolve an issues that may arise. Parents and students should be aware that attendance at all classes is taken and monitored by the usual VS ware system used in school. Department returns on student attendance will still be made as normal.

We have a dedicated email address for students and parents/guardians looking for information on emotional support, wellbeing or signposts to outside services and agencies. It also offers guidance on learning. This email account is checked regularly and contact is made by a member of our student support team as soon as possible. This dedicated email address is wecare@stfarnans.ie .

Mock Examinations:

St Farnan’s Post Primary school still hopes to have our mock exams for our 3rd and 6th year students this year. Obviously they won’t be starting on February 1st as previously planned. As a guide it is hoped to have them two weeks after our official return to school. Therefore it is advised that our Sixth Year and Third yearstudents continue with school work as well as study and revision in preparation for these exams.

Tuesday January 26th:

As published on our School Calendar, our teachers are on important JCT In Service on Tuesday, 26th January. Students will have no classes on that day, but normal service will resume on Wednesday 27th.

First Year Enrolments 2021:

Covid 19 has had an effect on our normal process of enrolment. At this stage we would be preparing for our Assessment Day which normally happens in February. Unfortunately this Assessment day has been deferred until a date to be announced. We will be in touch over the following weeks with further information.

Finally.

A reminder to our whole school community to stay safe and to abide by all Covid 19 guidelines issued by the HSE during this current Level 5 lockdown.

Eddie Collins,

Principal
