Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) Draft Policy 2024.pdf

10th Jan 2024

St. Farnan's PPS provides SPHE classes to all year groups from 1st year to 6th year. Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) is a key element of our SPHE curriculum and has been for 25 years. Social Education is provided to our Leaving Certificate Applied groups, where RSE is also a part of this senior cycle curriculum.

What is RSE? RSE is part of Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE). RSE provides children with structured opportunities to develop the knowledge, attitudes, values, beliefs and practical skills necessary to establish and sustain healthy personal relationships as children and, subsequently, as adults.

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment has an excellent website outlining the specifications and more recent development for SPHE and RSE which is available by clicking on the link below:

In line with current policy, we have updated our RSE POlicy and it is now available in draft form. Input from students, parents/guardians, staff and the Board of Management will take place over this term before being ratified by our BOM.
