TY Update - January 18th 2021.

17th Jan 2021

Dear all,

I hope that you are all keeping well and that you had a nice, restful weekend.

Thank you to all of you who attended classes last week and who have been engaging with teachers and the work they have assigned you in their various modules.

If you are not able to attend classes any day, or meet a particular deadline for an assignment, please let the teacher in question know. All teachers are keeping track of attendance using vsware and letting me know who is attending and working, so it is very important that you attend classes and keep on top of your work.

I have sent your weekly file for this week to you all by email- again it is very important that you complete this by the end of the week.

Thank you to the students who sent in great photographs of the family meal they prepared - well done! If you haven't already completed this challenge, please do it and send me your photos by Friday.

The second Weekly Challenge this week is baking....use your imagination to bake and decorate cupcakes - again, photos needed to make sure you get your extra credits and maybe win a prize!

We will be having the second of our EPAS Guest Speakers on Thursday when we will be meeting Minister Martin Heydon. Please do your research and have prepared questions for this class on Thursday!

Thank you to those of you who let me know that you would be interested in being on the debate team or the research team for the EU Parliament Model Debate in March - again, if you haven't already done so and you would like to get involved, please email me or tell me tomorrow in class. It is a brilliant opportunity and would look great on your CV.

Finally, if you are interested in sciences/health sciences/medicine as a possible future career, please look at the following virtual event being organised by the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin for TY students in February - it is free but you need to register - https://rcsi.eventsair.com/rcsi-mini-medical-sciences-2021/minimed-2021/Site/Register

General info about the event here  - https://www.rcsi.com/dublin/undergraduate/meet-rcsi/transition-year-minimed-programme

As always, keep in touch and email me if you have any questions or issues, it will all be fine!

Take care and good luck, Ms. Flanagan.
