Update from Principal - March 25th 2020

25th Mar 2020

Letter from Principal.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

In the spirit of keeping everyone informed during this difficult time for our country and beyond, I want to keep you up to date in relation to a number of issues that have arisen since our last communication.

1. Teaching and Learning.

All our teachers are emailing work to each student on a regular basis. I would ask parents to check that they are receiving these e mails and that your son/daughter is responding to this homework in a regular and timely fashion. There are some great websites which have been forwarded to students and teachers have embraced some very innovative methodologies to help in the very important process of teaching and learning. We need you as parents to make sure that you son/daughter is fully engaging in these new processes. At this stage it has been announced that schools reopen on Monday, April 20th. With this in mind it is very important that our students maintain their study routine.

2. Cancelled Practicals and Orals.

You will find elsewhere on the website information and frequently asked questions in relation to the Minister for Education‘s recent announcement regarding the cancelling of practical examinations in Home Economics and Music, as well as orals in French and Spanish. These do not include Day Practicals in Engineering, Construction or Art and so students need to keep up their preparation for these. Please read the information on our website.

3. School Tour.

As mentioned in an earlier correspondence, our School Tour to Germany is cancelled. We are in the process of negotiating refunds but I imagine this will be a long process. We will keep you up to date with progress.

4. VSWare.

All mock reports have been sent out electronically this year. If for whatever reason you did not receive your daughter/son’s report, please contact by e mail principal@stfarnans.ie.

5. Contacting the school.

If you need to contact the school for any reason please email principal@stfarnans.ie  and I will endeavour to reply.

In the meantime, stay safe and maintain hand hygiene and physical distancing of two metres.

Eddie Collins, Principal.
