Update on COVID-19 - letter to parents/guardians

11th Mar 2020

                                                                       Letter to Parents.

Parents and Guardians,

Please be advised that St. Farnan’s Post Primary School remains open and operating normally for Teaching and Learning. I am aware that there is considerable speculation about the possibility of closing schools and universities. The effect of such an intervention in reducing the spread of COVID 19 is unclear and so is a matter of expert judgement and a decision that will be made by the Department of Education and Skills in consultation with the HSE. This decision will then be communicated to you by school text and St. Farnan’s PPS website

In the event of a school closure, all students have an email address linked to the school and I ask that all students check if it is operational. If not, ask your son or daughter to contact Mr Cleary, Mr. Delaney or Mr Little and they will reset passwords etc. All our teachers will put up regular assignments and guidance after corrections which will be sent back to your son/daughter. Students should also remember to bring home all their books, notes etc. from lockers in the event of a school closure.

I would also suggest the following websites to help with this process.

  1. examinations.ie
  2. studyclix.ie
  3. .scoilnet.ie
  4. stfarnans.ie

I would ask that all students would follow their normal routine to help in keeping up with learning during a time of school closure.

Finally can I ask all parents to follow the guidelines issued on the HSE.ie website in relation to handwashing and sneezing/coughing procedures and go through these procedures with your sons/daughters.

I would like to thank you for your continued support during what is an anxious time for everyone. I will of course continue to communicate with you when there are updates.

Kind regards,

Eddie Collins.
