Visit by Mairead McGuinness, MEP

9th Nov 2018

We were delighted to welcome Mairead McGuinness, MEP, back to St. Farnan’s on November 9th. Mairead is an MEP is our constituency since 2004 and she is also First Vice-President of the European Parliament.

In a wonderful speech which touched on many topical issues including the importance of being politically aware and active and the value of cooperation, Mairead engaged with her audience in a very natural and sincere manner and the students were very much taken by her openness and her generosity in terms of her time, especially given her exceptionally busy diary this week!

Mairead officially launched the school’s new website and congratulated the school and our TY Students in particular on their involvement in the European Ambassador Schools Programme.

Guests included Principal, Mr. Eddie Collins, TY Year Head, Ms. Pamela Bracken, Dr. Rory O’Toole, Director of Schools with KWETB and Mr. Brendan Weld, Chair of the school’s Board of Management.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning and well done to the TYs for their excellent organization of the event!
